In an interview with PC Games Hardware Cevat Yerli talked about the Cryengine 3, which the forthcoming Crysis 2 is based on. Which advantages and improvements have been integrated in the new structure?

From the interview we learned that although the Cryengine 3 is a multi-platform technology, there is no lead platform which is usually the case. Instead the Live Create feature of the engine allows the developers for example to transfer an adjustment they just made on the PC to the consoles. The Cryengien 3 automatically converts, compresses and optimizes the content and conveys the output to the platforms. One of the most important features of the Cryengine 3 is its cross-platform scaling capability that makes it possible to reach best results from each platform.

At last quater 2009 Nvidia has announce and releasing new GPU core at new line 40nm process production. At least they will released 40nm from shrinking GT200 based like GTX260M, GTS250M, GT 240M, GT230M and GT210M for notebook segment, what they bring for desktop ? until now Nvidia have 3 GPU core based for desktop platform are GT210, GT220 and GT240 that will replace Geforce 9400GT, 9500GT and top midrange 2008 Geforce 9600GT. The good news are they 40nm GPU will supporting with Microsoft API DirectX 10.1 that introduce the first time by ATI 4000 series lineup.

VDPAU or Video Decode Presentation API for UNIX or Linux. The big name “Nvidia” was the behind schene with developing this API for X-Windows system library for using by UNIX ( Linux), BSD and Solaris operating system. VDPAU allowing video program to offload decode and  post processing process to GPU Video hardware based or the same like what we seeing in DxVA (DirectX Video Acceleration) in Windows based. This time the process being capable to offload by VDPAU to GPU are motion composition (mo comp), inverse Descrete Cosine Transform (iDCT), Variable Lenght Decoding (VLD) for MPEG-1, MPEG-2, MPEG-4 ASP (Mpeg 4 part 2), MPEG-4 AVC (H.264 Divx 6), VC-1, WMV3/WMV9, Xvid and Divx encoded video.

High performance system usually need to be temperature monitoring everyday to preventing from hardware failure by the overseeding heat trap. In Windows mode like Windows 7 or Vista, we don’t founding hard problem with hardware monitoring software but somehow we must spent extratime to patch for working experience in opensource operating system like linux does.

I think almost every geek computer user that using modern GPU know what is RivaTuner. Yes, that tools was build by Unwinder from Guru3D.com and use for tweaking Graphics Processor Unit both from ATI or Nvidia based. Every kind aspect like GPU or Memory clock changer, registry mod or some driver level tweaking by power user can be done easy with finger.  And this time, i want share how to make RivaTuner working with dynamic clocking in 2D/3D switch mode. This tweak can be use for automatic overclock utility according to GPU workload. In 2D mode (desktop) core and memory clock can be switch to be lower for make them cooler and silent. That’s the perfect situatian for listening music or watching your favorite movie and then if you are expecting more GPU power for gaming time they working stick properly give you more enjoying frame per second

When a chip manufacturer releases a new generation of graphics cards, the appropriate technology demonstrations (or tech demos) have become more or less obligatory. They are supposed to show the features and capabilities of the new devices — even if similar games don’t exist. Therefore Nvidia introduced diverse new tech demos in course of the GF100 Fermi launch. Two features, DirectX 11 Tessellation and Ray Tracing, are the most important ones. And here we can take took a look at the new tech demos and presents in form of screenshots and videos.

We sat sat down with AMD’s Worldwide Developer Relations manager, Richard Huddy, to discuss all things developer, DirectX 11, Eyefinity, and his opinions on the competition: Nvidia, Fermi, GeForce 3D and PhysX and Intel’s recent progress with Larrabee.

Richard started working with 3DLabs in 1996, and from 1998 to 2002 he ran Nvidia’s game developer relations program and as the first non-US member of staff he set up its European office. In 2002 he joined ATI as a contractor and now works full time as its Developer Relations Manager.

The interview was recorded and transcribed from bit-tech.net. The italicised emphasis is included in the article to directly represent Richard’s vocal emphasis; edits were made for clarity of meaning, syntax and brevity.
