Some greek site hwbox has been posted a benchmark test for several popular bench test and application for the answer AMD Deneb mystery leaked. This is a first complete benchmark test i think. AMD Phenom II “Deneb” core 920 and 940 with 2.8Ghz/3.0Ghz (6Mb L3 cache) will compete againts Intel Core 2 Quad 9450/9550 (2.66 and 2,83 Ghz with 12Mb L2 cache) and finaly Core i7 920 and 940 (8Mb L3 cache).

My conclusion is Phenom II 940 running @3Ghz with 45nm process technology is around a same performarce with Intel Core 2 Quad 45nm Yorkfield between 2.66 and 2.83Ghz. But they can’t touch Intel Core i7 performance. Somehow DDR2 memory controller in Phenom II not quite enough headroom for competition, as they running at stock speed.  Maybe until AM3 arrive with dual memory controller DDR2 and DDR3 of course with many good motherboard as well reveal in the market we can see even better ceompetition here.

Update :

One Iranian gamer site have posted AMD Deneb benchmark test too. The job have done by some potential overclocking test for around 4.2Ghz. Suddenly premature bios support from motherboard manufacture force them hit the wall. At least they found stability testing for AMD Deneb 940 at 3.9Ghz with air cooling Zalman 9700NT. Good job AMD.

Another reviewer site like Guru3D.com have been finalize review for both AMD Core 45nm 920/940. Many bench and real aplication test for measurement performance between AMD Deneb, Core i7 and Intel Penryn based Quadcore. Have a nice day and happy reading  :mrgreen:
