[Review] WD Black 1TB Sata II

Western Digital corporation have been launching “The Black” series of Caviar legendary pruduct lineup. They claim that Black series will deliver a highest performance computing for us as the end user needed.

WD Caviar Black drives combine a high performance electronics architecture with a rock solid mechanical architecture to deliver the perfect storage solution for your fully-loaded PC or maxed out gaming machine. Cool drive operation, no-touch head technology, and leading-edge vibration protection ensure enhanced reliability and sustained data throughput. And we back it all up with a 5-year limited warranty.

Above the sheet, these product have several advantage feature such as :

1. Dual processor – Twice the processing power to maximize performance.

2. 32 MB cache – Bigger, faster cache means faster performance.

3. StableTrac™ – The motor shaft is secured at both ends to reduce system-induced vibration and stabilize platters for accurate tracking, during read and write operations.

For accuracy testing i have test with or without hdd advance performance tweak from vista device driver policies and the result are equivalent. The test itself done by twice and i’ll posting the lowest score screenshoot for you.

Hd Tach have well known as a popular hdd benchmark for measurement read, accesstime, usage and burst speed performance

HD Tune 2.55

Similar like HD Tach test, HD Tune is good alternative hard drive test that include temperature read from internal controller.

PC Mark Vantage 1.0 HDD Test Suite

Made by Futuremark Corp that utilizing a benchmark suitable for windows Vista experience performance suite test. PC Mark Vantage is using performance index by commonly software that running for windows vista. From multitasking test for processor performance, memory read and write, video graphics performance for running aero and games until hard drive test for daily usage.

Conclusion

Much faster and quite that is a right word for WD Caviar Black series. That look like WD claim for these series is come true if comparable with the brother WD Green line up series that much optimizing for less watt consumtion. Big capacity, faster seeks time and high transfered read or write speed is the right answer for what you looking for. WD black also operating at low temperature even test at open air with 28 degree my room test. More important is that internal controller much easy to plug and play for any major chipset brand.  5 years warranty service from WD customer service will satisfy and safe your investment future.
